Katie Staib is the Resident Teaching Artist at the MAC, Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture

As diverse as the countries I have lived in and visited, my work ranges from substantial international community mural projects to detailed sculptures. Only my interest in travel rivals my passion for art.

The impact of my travel is reflected in my work. The pre-Columbian petroglyphs and statues found in Granada, the bright colors of Antiguan tapestries, and the temples of Shikoku emerge in my work as I embrace cultures unlike my own. My process often begins from a daydream and evolves from there into whatever it will become, it might be a painting or a sculpture or a piece of furniture.
